Cannomede Cottages, South Tawton, Devon

South Tawton Parish Council has worked with Hastoe Housing Association to deliver six new affordable homes for local people in the village.

Previously farmland neighbouring existing Hastoe homes, the site has been transformed to provide six new homes for affordable rent. Hastoe has invested £1million into the development, with additional grant funding of £178,000 from Homes England and £100,000 from West Devon Borough Council.

Works began on site in June 2017, and the new homes were developed in partnership with South Tawton Parish Council, Dartmoor National Park Authority, architects Walker Newton, contractors Coyde Construction, and employer’s agent Randall Simmonds.
The homes, which are fitted with air source heat pumps, have all been built to AECB Silver standard. They also benefit from a mechanical ventilation with heat recovery system, which contributes towards heating the homes.

Cannomede Cottages was completed in September 2018, offering one 1 bedroom house, two 2 bedroom houses, and three 3 bedroom houses. Now fully occupied, all six homes were prioritised for people with a local connection to South Tawton.
