Devon Community Housing Hub is a partnership of Devon’s Local Authorities, Housing Associations, National Parks and Housing Professionals, working to address and meet local housing need in rural Devon. It has the support of central government agencies (Homes England) and other South West enablers of affordable housing.

Devon now has a housing hub to match other housing hubs sprouting up all over the UK. The Hub is the result of collaboration between the Partnership, with a clear focus on addressing how to best support communities to identify their housing needs and work together to address them, through the development of community led housing.

We have the backing and involvement of these local authorities to date: Mid-Devon District Council, East Devon District Council and Exmoor National Park Authority and Dartmoor National Park Authority. Plus, these Housing Associations are experienced in meeting housing needs through developing homes in places where people want to live: Livewest, Westward Housing, Teign Housing, Cornerstone Housing, North Devon Homes, Willow Tree Housing Partnership and Hastoe. Homes England and Middlemarch of Dorset are involved in member support. The partners of DCCH are all committed to providing good quality, affordable homes.

DCHH provides support and professional services for anyone involved in community led housing. Do you want to investigate the need for housing in your local community? We can help you with a housing needs survey. Wondering how to go about forming a Community Land Trust? We can help. Perhaps you’re at the very start of your journey and just wish to talk to someone about concerns you may have about housing in your community? Please do get in touch. We are here to help Devon’s communities address their housing challenges and support people to live in quality homes in the communities they love.

DCHH’s values are about putting local and rural values of association first. Localism1 is at the heart of what we do. It puts decision-making at the heart of communities and from that promise Community Led Homes was founded in 2016 as a path to put people first in their locality. Central Government has backed hundreds of projects since then. Community aspirations for more control over their housing futures is now a reality.

1The Localism Act 2011 is an Act of Parliament that changes the powers of local government in England. The aim of the act is to facilitate the devolution of decision-making powers from central government control to individuals and communities. (Wikipedia)
