Rural Housing Enabling Service – Devon Community Housing Hub

Thanks to funding from DEFRA, Devon Communities Together is now able to offer a free and independent service to parishes, community groups, housing associations and developers, helping to deliver affordable housing schemes to meet local needs.

This service forms part of a network of Rural Housing Enablers (RHEs) working across the country as part of a national programme to increase the provision of affordable housing in rural communities.

We can:

Help parish councils and community groups to understand the processes and options for achieving rural affordable housing for local people within their parish.

Assist in the identification and appraisal of potential sites and liaise closely with landowners and planning authorities over constraints and opportunities.

Liaise closely with local housing associations and developers to facilitate community involvement in the design and delivery of housing schemes.

·Contribute to relevant strategies at national, regional and local level to increase the delivery of affordable rural housing throughout Devon.
